August 2008

Greetings, Friends of Fancy Cats! We'd like to thank all of our donors and our volunteers for their generosity so far this year! You are the lifeblood of our organization and we could never do all we do without your donations! Please know that we do appreciate everything you do for the cats and to help reduce the pet overpopulation.

Summer is almost over! Can you believe it? Take a few minutes to send us a short story about and photo of your Fancy Cat! We might feature it in one of our upcoming editions of Paw Prints! We'll definitely post it on the Success Stories page on our website!

UPCOMING EVENT: We will have a booth at the upcoming National Capital Cat Show at the Dulles Expo Center on September 6 & 7, 2008. We'll have some great new t-shirts and hand made cat beds for sale there, so stop by and check 'em out! Our volunteers will be there all day and would love to meet you and hear your cat stories!

JeevesFEATURED KITTY:
Jeeves came to Fancy Cats in 2004 from the Fairfax County Animal Shelter and is still awaiting his forever home with a loving family. He was adopted by a family that had 3 other cats, but those cats bullied Jeeves. So Fancy Cats welcomed him back. Jeeves is a sweet, affectionate, old boy who wants to spend the rest of his days living peacefully in his forever home. He lost his left eye (we don't know how) prior to coming to Fancy Cats, but he gets along fine with the one he has! He just can't help that he's competing for the attention of potential adopters with all those darn cute, cuddly kittens! Jeeves would do best in an adult household as an only cat or with non-aggressive cats.

We also have a bunch of other great, older kitties like Jeeves who don't do well at adoption fairs. If you are interested in meeting Jeeves, or any of those other wonderful adults, please email us to set up an appointment.

HAPPY TAILS: "Tiger and Tabitha have been such a joy! They are very active and chase each other around, which makes us laugh a lot. We even shot a video that is so funny we thought about sending it to the "Funniest Home Videos" TV show. They purr all the time and, of course, we love it! They have their own toys and beds and my daughter loves taking care of them. I'm glad we got two so they can have fun together. Thank you again for all your help picking out the perfect pets for our home." Debbie S.

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT: Irina Vintila-Sinescu began volunteering with Fancy Cats in August 2007 when she stopped by an adoption event at the Fair Lakes Petsmart. She offered to help us by creating marketing and business development materials. We took her up on that... and much, much more! Irina was quickly trained to be an Adoption Coordinator and managed at least 2 adoption events every month. She also cleaned the adoption center with Jennifer Himes every Sunday. And, she produced our Fall 2007 and Summer 2008 newsletters. Irina moved away from Fairfax last month, but she still plans to produce our newsletters for us! Irina now resides in the Big Apple with her significant other, Jason, and their two kitties, Moo and Calypso. Thanks for everything, Irina!
