cat icon Emmy

Dear Fancy Cats:

I always go to PetSmart to shop, and even though I try not to stop by, I always end up going to see the cats.

I decided to foster cats to give them a break from their confinement and was asked to foster Emmy. I did not know how overweight she was when I brought her home, but she had to go up the steps very slowly and it was a struggle for her.

Tabby Gazing Upward

She has such a sweet temperament and is so affectionate! (loves belly rubs) that it is not hard to fall in love with her.

I am happy to say that she is getting healthy; she has lost a lot of weight and she enjoys jumping on chairs to catch a nap and runs up the stairs without any effort.

When the time came for the first adoption event, we could not go through with it, we did not want her to go through any more changes and wanted to get her healthy.

She used to sit at a safe distance watching all the other pets milling around, now she joins in and I am happy to say she is part of the family.

Thank you,
The Napier Family

cat icon Chase Manhattan

Dear Fancy Cats:

I just wanted to send you some pics and an update on Chase.
Young Girl Petting Chase

We have a lot of stairs here so he is getting some exercise.

He is doing quite well and seems to be very happy to have a home and a lot of room to roam.

Everyone loves Chase and we are happy that we were able to adopt him!

Update!

After spending only 12 days in his forever home, Chase Manhattan had a heart attack and passed away. Our volunteers at Fancy Cats are saddened at the news of Chase's sudden death and extend our condolences to his family.

Rocky & Marti

Rocky & Marti, cats given up because of a child with severe allergies, have since been adopted by Chase's family.

cat icon Marley

Dear Fancy Cats:

Thought I'd give you a quick update. Marley is now "Cleo" and it suits her. She comes when called...well, as often as a cat will!

Cleo & her Toy Mouse

Right now, Cleo and Pepper are playing tag up and down the hallway, through the kitchen and dining room and back into the bedroom for a quick tumble with each other and back down the hallway again.

I find them napping together and often sharing their food dishes, even though they have their own. They like to sit in the living room window together and watch the world go by.

Cleo is still very affectionate and loves to snuggle in, purring.

I think she's happy here :)

cat icon Paddy

Dear Fancy Cats:

I found Paddy on Petfinder.com; I drove across Virginia to pick him up last week.

Paddy is a retired show cat, and a sophisticated Senior Citizen at 13 years of age. Since most people want kittens, I was hoping to open my home to an older cat.

Paddy has been the perfect addition to our household, and is blending seamlessly with my two three-year-old brother Persians, Smush and Wijuk.

Thank you!
Jennifer

Dear Fancy Cats:

I just wanted to write you to give you an update on Muffy. She is doing wonderful here! She is still a little shy, but will walk up to me at least once a day for cuddles. She sleeps at the foot of my bed every night and she and Bella have become really close.

I think that I have already started to spoil her...lol. We have a tradition that every night when I get home from work, the girls get a treat or a bit of wet food. She is quite picky, but then again, so is Bella. She wont eat the chunky kind of wet food but loves the pate kind.

Bella is her partner is crime and they are always together. Whether they are playing or just taking a nap together, its rare that they are apart from each other.

My roomate has decided not to come for Bella, which is wonderful news because I have become quite attached to her and Muffy has as well.

Here are some pics of the girls together and one of Muffy by herself.

cat iconBig Kahuna & Toby

Big Kahuna

Toby
Toby

Dear Fancy Cats:

I brought Toby and Kahuna home with me last Sunday after meeting them in the Springfield PetSmart adoption fair. When I got them home, I opened the carriers and you'd never know that it was a new place for them. They acted as though they'd been living there the whole time! They sleep with me every night, which I love. Toby is the explorer, and Kahuna is my personal assistant!

I can't believe that no one had adopted them - they are such sweet unflappable cats who needed someone to lavish their love on. I am delighted to have them with me, and they have already brought so much love and laughter to our home.

Their first vet visit went really well, and they succeeded in charming the veterinarian - she wanted to have them for herself! They are in perfect health, of course, and have received vaccinations.

Thank you for keeping these two guys for me; they are a wonderful addition to my family.

Sincerely,
Paige Marshall

cat icon Ava & Meeka

Dear Fancy Cats:

Who would have thought that by walking into Pet Smart Saturday morning we would leave with an expanded family! Ava with "his" long beautiful coat caught our eye first but after playing with "his" sister Meeka we knew. Of course the plea that they wrote "we have been together please do not separate us as all we have known is each other" got our heartstrings as well.

Ava & Meeka

Just wanted to let you know all is going very well.  Meeka is plump as ever and is definitely John Jr's cat. She loves hugs from him and sleeps on his bed every chance she gets. However she has good "kitchen ears" and if anyone is in the kitchen she loves to rub ankles to let them know........she would love a cat treat. The vet says that she needs to lose a pound and Ava could stand to gain that pound!

Ava lets it be known she is the "Queen of the House" although technically you and I know she is a male..........but we won't let her know that. She loves to relax at the top of the stairs so she can approve of who comes up and wants to go down. She is a very vocal cat!

Both of these cats are so loving. When I heard they were "surrended" I imagined behavior problems and such and I have to admit I was hesitant about adopting a 3 and 4 year old cat. I thought they would be stubborn and set in their ways. They are set in there ways of giving lots of love and rubbing ankles. They use the litterbox and have nto had any accidents! They are such blessings!

Wanted to send a few pictures and thank you guys for letting us add them to our family! John Jr giving Meeka a big hug and Ava and Meeka laying on John Jr's bed watching him play!  Who would have known that a two for one deal would have brought our home so much love!

cat icon Rusty & Rocky

Rusty & Rocky

Dear Fancy Cats:

The boys are doing great. They have our spare bedroom as their safe spot. They have begun to roam our top floor when the gate is up to keep our golden retriever, Maddie, safely on the stairs. In fact, Rocky (Ringo) has touched noses with her through the rails. Our older cat Casey is keeping her distance, but has seen them and has smelled them on the pieces of their towel that I cut up and placed around on her favorite napping spots. The boys have begun to get very lively, lots of crazy running back and forth through our to top floor. I will be making a vet appointment today to have them checked out.

Thank you again, we really feel that the boys are going to be a great addition to our family, which has really missed having a loving boy kitty since our Bootsey died 3 years ago.

cat icon TC

Dear Fancy Cats:

Just a quick note to let you know that TC is adjusting wonderfully. The night I brought him home he first sniffed everything, and then immediately started purring. He seems to be very happy, he loves attention and we love to give it to him. He has great eating and litter box routines. It has been a great experience adopting from Fancy Cats. I am pretty sure TC and I were meant to be together!!

Thanks for all of your assistance.

Best Wishes,
Ashley Stocks

cat icon Sherlock Holmes/Rònan

Dear Fancy Cats:

I wanted to give you a quick update on the kitty formerly known as Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes before he was adopted   Sherlock Holmes after Adoption. Renamed to RoananRonan

First, I decided to change his name this past weekend. Sherlock was a great name, and it fit him (especially the "Holmes" part, since we live in a neighborhood called Holmes Run Acres), but I caved into the temptation to give him a Gaelic name (I have been studying Scottish Gaelic for 7 years) when it came to me that he should be called "little seal." So, his name is now Rònan (pronounced Row-nan). He's already gotten used to it and comes when called, smart kitty that he is!

In general, he's doing really, really well. He's still sleek and shiny, though a bit bigger than he was, of course. His upper canines have come in and are too big for his mouth, so he looks a bit like a vampire! I entertain a lot and he's totally cool with having crowds of people around and is always the hit of the party. He loves to be held and cuddled and sleeps with me most of the time. (As I write this, he's curled up between my arms!) Thanks to his foster mom, Jackie! he is exactly the kind of cat I was hoping for!

Regards,
Catherine (and Rònan and Tinkerbelle)

cat iconRocky & Jack

Dear Fancy Cats:

I just got your online newsletter and it got me thinking of just how awesome [our adoption] has worked out for my fiance and me and our kitters that we adopted through [Fancy Cats].

Rocky & Jack

Jack & Rocky (a/k/a Keenan & Ronan, adopted Sept/Oct 2007) have been an absolute joy! Every so often I hear my fiancé say, "I am so glad we have these cats! What a great decision!" and "They are such great kitters!" They really make us so happy and feel like a family. I just wanted to let you know that I think your program is great and we couldn't thank you enough for introducing us to our kitters!

I wish Fancy Cats the best of luck in the future as they continue to help cats and impact families.

Thanks,
Jessica Young
