Jasmine & Maverick |
Dear Fancy Cats:
How time flies!
Tina and I both were very happy to find Jasmine and
Maverick two years ago with the help of Fancycats.com. We told them
what we were looking for and they found Jasmine and Maverick in
Southern West Virginia. Two flame point Siamese mix kittens.

Fancy
Cats Rescue Team helped bring them to us on the second Saturday in
September of 2006.
Maverick and Jasmine have brought a lot to our
home. They have become valued family members. As brother and sister,
they play a lot and rough house a lot.
They have learned how to
communicate with us to let us know when it is time for dinner and
breakfast. I have to say breakfast is worse. They have not mastered
subtlety when it comes to waking us up, a cold nose and whiskers is
all it takes usually to wake us up.
I just wanted to drop you a note
to let you know how thankful we both are that you helped us find
Maverick and Jasmine.
Just so you know they don't have a West
Virginia drawl when they talk any more. If you want to see more
pictures of our valued friends you can usually find a new picture
every once in a while at my flickr account.

Elizabeth & Cleo |
Dear Fancy Cats:
I just want to share these photos of my two Fancy Cats.
Elizabeth (formerly Kit) came to live with Rebecca (one of my first rescue adoptions) and me after the death of our other companion cat Rowena.
What a contrast to little Rebecca who is a black DSH with copper eyes. Elizabeth is a snowy, big, beautiful lady with green eyes. For the first few months, she seemed to have panic attacks and would wander around the house meowing and rying as if she was looking for someone.
Now, the panic attacks are a thing of the past, although she does coming looking for me to give her a hug or a cuddle or a handful of her favorite dry food.
Cleo has been here about a month, but she has settled in like this has always been her home. She and Rebecca are showing signs of becoming buddies, and they have worked out a schedule for sharing the window ledges and cat perches.
Their personalities are very similar--both very sweet, loving little girls. Cleo is hoping that we can soon bring her brother Tugger to live with us.
I just want to say thanks to everyone at Fancy Cats for the work you do. These beautiful cats are worth the effort!

Cairo |
Dear Fancy Cats:
Lucie now Cairo named for Ancient cats of Egypt. She may not be Queen of
the Nile but I don't think she knows the difference because she is the
queen of the house.

We didn't know if she was a stray or not before coming to Fancy Cats. I was nervous to get a stray with Lucy, our African Grey Parrot who
had the run of the house. Everyone is getting along great! Cairo shares
most of her toys with Lucy except for a couple of favorites.
She is very
loving sleeps with me in bed now runs up and down 3 flights of steps. Why
she runs, we don't know, maybe just because she can? We are so happy to
have her in our home.
Thank you Fancy Cats.
Teddy |
Dear Fancy Cats:
We adopted Teddy on 10 February 2008. Teddy
apparently spent three months in the care of the
Fairfax County shelter and Fancy Cats... which is hard
for us to believe because he is a beautiful and well
adjusted cat.
He very quickly settled in to our home
and claimed several favorite perches as his own. He
seems to be very happy to be at our home. He follows
us around everywhere we go and is very curious. He
has learned to use a scratch post, although the couch
is sometimes too irresistible.
He also found his
voice and is now very vocal. Speaking of vocal, his
purr is like a v-8 engine.
Teddy has enriched our
lives already and we have a certain satisfaction
knowing that we helped an animal in need... a special
thanks to Lois who worked with us on adoption day.
Thank you,
Teddy's Family |

Skittles (Ladybug) |
Dear Fancy Cats:
Just wanted to send you a few pictures of Ladybug. We've renamed her Skittles and she is already responding when we call her. :-)
Our dog Angel just loves her! They get along very well, and Angel even lets her drink from her water bowl. Skittles didn't like her water bowl so I just it for wet food instead. It all works out.
When I brought Skittles home Friday night she just walked the whole house, purring loudly. I assumed it was purrs of approval and she seemed to make herself at home very quickly.
Attached are some pictures of her that I thought you'd enjoy. I have a stack of school books under my window that she likes to sit on and use as a perch. We're planning on buying her a real perch of her own, but she seems to make do. She also sits on the back of a sofa we have in the living room and looks out into the neighborhood.
I have a yellow blanket that I put on my bed which lets the animals know they can come up. Both Angel and Skittles share the blanket quite nicely. They get along even better than I could have hoped for in the short time we've had her.
Thank you so much for letting us bring her home! She's already a part of the family and we love her very much! |

Sklyer & Bandit |
Dear Fancy Cats:
I just wanted to write and tell you about our two new members of our family and how well they have adjusted to their new home!
Skyler (was known as Buttons) is a sweetheart! She loves to sit with me at the computer and help me type, and anytime she sees an open lap, she's there!
Bandit (was known as Little Miss Sunshine) is also a sweetheart! She loves to sleep with us on our bed at night, and sometimes attack our feet under the covers! She's a little bit more mellow than Skyler, so they compliment each other!
They have also learned to like each other! Skyler always licks Bandit very lovingly, like she's taking care of her. They play a lot together and have learned to share the toys when we are playing. At night, we hear them running all over the house...hopefully having fun with each other!
They have only been with us a couple of weeks, but it seems like they have always been a part of our family! Thank you for helping us expand our love and our family!

Pippen |
Dear Fancy Cats:
We just wanted to let you know how happy we are with
Pippen.
She's the most active member of the family
now, and plays all the time. She has a bell on her
collar and it's so funny to listen to her upstairs as
she jingles while she plays. =-)
Mocha (the cat we already had) is great with her, and
they've learned to share food and water dishes, and
the litter box. Kitra (our dog) is so anxious to just
play with her... we're still working on that. Pippen
will play, but she's just not as jumpy as Kitra is at
times. =-)
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to bring
Pippen home and make her part of our family!

Sampson & Sweetpea |
Dear Fancy Cats:
We are really enjoying Sampson and Sweetpea! They have won the hearts of our two boys (and us parents!) and are settling into their new home just fine.
Thank you to everyone for the encouragement and assistance we received during the search and adoption process. I still feel pangs for Onyx, and hope she finds the wonderful home that she deserves!!
Kudos to all of you who give so much time, energy, and love to these wonderful animals!
Thanks again,
Connie Lehman

[Written from Hank's Point of View]
Dear Fancy Cats:
Thank you Cathy and all the volunteers for everything you do.

Without you, I wouldn't have found my new home, where I love to sit in the windows and watch the birds, get yummy food to eat and all the love and attention I need.
-
Hank
Loretta |
Dear Fancy Cats:
I am writing to let you know how glad I am to have adopted Loretta, a 4
year old American Shorthair female about a year ago.

When I first saw
her, she was an overweight and unfriendly cat, with health problems stemming
from stress. Being older than numerous younger cats at the adoption fair
didn't help her adoption chances either.
A second time her owner surrendered,
she was distrustful of strangers and skittish to no end, (she even managed
to scratch me) but I decided to give it a chance anyway.
Now, a year
later, I am happy to report that Loretta and I are doing great. She
slimmed down from almost 14lbs to a healthy for her frame - 8.5lbs. She no
longer has problems with excessive grooming, and LOVES to be petted. She
proved to be so tender and affectionate that she's now not only my "couch"
pet, but my "bed" pet as well.
She loves being around people she knows and
trusts. And, she can spends seemingly endless hours looking out of her
favorite window - tracking all the birds and squirrels in the
neighborhood.
Best of all, you had made me very happy by bringing this
angel of a cat into my life.
I am enclosing a recent picture of the beauty that she is.
Thank you Kathy and all the volunteers.
Oki
