Volunteering - Adoptions

Fancy Cats holds adoptions on weekends at several PetsMart stores and we need a variety of volunteers to help them run smoothly.
Adoptions Assistants help set-up and tear down at fairs, keeping an eye on cats and answering questions. They also talk with potential adopters, do some prescreening and educating on our adoption conditions. Experienced Assistants are strongly encouraged to become trained as a Coordinator.
Adoption Coordinators are authorized by Fancy Cats to release cats to their new families. They go over and approve/deny applications, work with potential adopters to help find the right cat for their situation, answer questions, and sign all Fancy Cats paperwork.

Adoption Schedule:

Fair Lakes PetsMart : Sundays from 12-4 (set-up at 11:30 am, tear down till 5 pm). 1st,3rd and 5th Saturdays of each month from 12-4 (set-up at 11:30 am, tear down till 5pm).

Gainesville PetsMart: 1st & 3rd Saturdays & Sundays from 12-4

Springfield PetsMart: Every Sunday from 12-4

Chantilly PetsMart: 2nd & 4th Saturdays from 12-4

GETTING STARTED: Please complete the appropriate Volunteer Application for your age and submit it to us by email, fax or mail. Once your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted by the Adoption Center Manager for the area that you indicated as your preferred area. The Adoption Center Manager will tell you how to sign up to work at adoptions at that particular store. You will be partnered with an experienced Assistant or Coordinator and taught about FCRT adoption procedures and conditions. You will be shown where supplies are and how to best show and handle our cats.
